A Paris appeals court has upheld the convictions of former French prime minister François Fillon and his wife, Penelope, in a fake job scandal that ended his political career. But the sentences handed to the couple in the 2020 embezzlement trial were reduced. Fillon was given four years in prison, three of them suspended. Previously it had been given five-year jail term, with three suspended. The ex-premier is also eligible for an electronic ankle bracelet instead of jail time.
