For DIY “garbage guys”, these terms are not unfamiliar.

This week, Western Digital introduced the SN740, a new solid-state drive that primarily supplies OEMs.

The SN740 has been upgraded to the fifth generation of flash memory particles, which is BiCS 5 with a 112-layer stack. However, DRAM is not integrated, and the main control is also self-developed.

In terms of performance,Using the PCIe 4.0 channel, the sequential read speed of 1TB/2TB can reach 5150MB/s, which is 50% higher than the previous generation SN730. In terms of power consumption, it has also been reduced by 45%.

In order to meet the multi-scenario needs of OEM manufacturers, a single-sided M.2 2230 form is also designed.

In terms of durability, it promises a 5-year warranty.

The previous generation SN730 work kit or disassembly disk, the overall performance, especially the slow external writing, is better than the Samsung PM981, and it has become the favorite of some garbage guys. However, the cancellation of DRAM in this generation of SN740 is a big pity, depending on the final circulation price.
