On the sidelines of the announcement of The Last of Us Part I, the remake of the first opus, Neil Druckman came to the Summer Game Fest stage to tell us a bit about the HBO series The Last of Us. We were treated to some crisp revelations.
The Last of Us in the Multiverse of Madness
Neil Druckmann, series director The Last of Us and Uncharted over at Naughty Dog gave us some details about the TV adaptation of the post-apocalyptic game. He first revealed to us the very first official image (even if the stolen photos had already sold the wick more or less) where we see the two main characters (from the front) Joël and Ellie, respectively embodied by Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey.
He indicates that his involvement in the series has been very strong so that he promises that the series will be the most faithful adaptation of a video game. In addition to participating in the writing of the show alongside Craig Mazin (Chernobyl), it also revealed thathe himself had directed one of the episodes even if clues had already suggested this fact to us.
To talk about the remake, the English voices of our two heroes in the game, Ashley Johnson (Ellie) and Troy Baker (Joel) were present. It was also the perfect opportunity for Druckmann to announce that the two artists would be present in the series with roles not revealed for the moment. He made a point of specifying that it would not be simple cameos and that they would have a real participation in homage to their implication on the characters that they embodied.
Icing on the cake, it seems that the filming of the series was completed yesterday. The HBO series The Last of Us will air in 2023.
