Players penalize Babylon’s Fall for its paywall, microtransactions, and outdated graphics with abstinence. The preliminary peak was reached this week with only one active player. Although the developers continue to work on the title, player counts seem to know only one way – down.

Just two months after its release, Babylon’s Fall, Platinum Games’ new action role-playing game, continues to struggle with declining player numbers. The fact that the title has to make do with fewer players compared to top dogs like Lost Ark or Elden Ring was something to consider, but the development of the title created by the Bayonetta makers is extreme.

At the time of release, the maximum number of simultaneous users was only 1,188 players. Last month we reported that a new negative record of eight players was set, while Babylon’s Fall still averaged 137 players played. However, the situation has only gotten worse since then and we can report a new sad record. According to the Steam charts, on May 3rd at around 6:00 p.m., only one player played Babylon’s Fall.

In the meantime, however, the number of players has recovered to 20-50 simultaneous players. While in general a fluctuation of players in a title does not have to mean anything and there are highs and lows, in the case of Babylon’s Fall there is certainly cause for concern. Only two months after release, the player counts of successful games are usually not that low.

The developers are still working on the title and releasing content updates, but have to contend with poor ratings due to microtransactions, the Battle Pass and the comparatively simple look. The Steam ratings are still only balanced with 45 and 46 percent positive reviews respectively and there is no improvement in sight.
