With advanced machine learning, iOS 16 allows users to extract objects from photos and then drag and drop them for use in messages, notes, mail, and other apps.
This feature works not only in photos, but in screenshots and quick view. In the Photos app, simply hold the photo for a few seconds until a white highlight appears around the subject. You can then drag the selection from the Photos app to Messages, Mail, Notes, and other apps.
In Quick View and elsewhere on the system, simply hold your finger on the desired item in the photo and select “Copy Item” from the list of actions. The image object is then selected and saved to the clipboard for use elsewhere in the system.
This feature also works with frames from videos in the Photos app. Since this feature requires advanced machine learning and image analysis, it is only available on phones with A12 Bionic and newer.
