Are you a little surprised, because some users whose hardware is not supported can also upgrade to Windows 11.
Microsoft has released Windows 11 build 22621 to Windows Insiders registered in the Release Preview Channel, marking another step toward general availability of Windows 11 22H2, which is scheduled for release later this year.
However, judging from the feedback from many netizens, users who do not support hardware are also offered an upgrade, even those using Windows 10.
Windows 10 also has a release preview channel, which receives cumulative updates before Windows 10 is generally released, but supported hardware will still see the “Windows 11, version 22H2 is ready” prompt. The problem here is that it also seems to be offered to unsupported hardware.
The screenshot shows that Reddit user AceRimmer412 got the Windows 11 22H2 upgrade prompt from his Windows 10 device on an unsupported processor (i5-7200U), the specific model is the HP x360.
This user replicated the steps by installing the latest optional cumulative update (KB5014023), which also updated me to 19044.1741, and then I joined the release preview channel, but my laptop didn’t offer the Windows 11 22H2 upgrade.
Is this by chance, apparently not, one user’s Dell Optiplex 7040 (i7-6700 3.4GHz, 16GB, Intel HD 530) has also been upgraded to the new system.
It is not clear whether these users have joined the Windows 10 release preview channel, but it seems likely. Regarding the above situation, some netizens said that either Microsoft has expanded its scope or made a mistake.
Some netizens said that it is possible that because this is a brand new functional version of Windows 11, it can be done again on unsupported hardware.
