According to the World Health Organization, alcoholism can lead to more than three million deaths a year worldwide. A Boston-based company now offers an app that rewards users for staying sober.
This new app pays alcoholics for every day they go without drinking, according to the Boston Globe. DynamiCare Health is the company behind this app. How it works ? The user receives a reward of five dollars when he does not drink for a day. The latter must perform a daily self-diagnosis using a device that can connect to the application via Bluetooth.
According to the American company, users can collect up to one hundred dollars per month with the application. However, this money can only be used to buy products that encourage positive habits. Indeed, it is paid on a debit card that cannot be used in bars, liquor stores or casinos.
Apart from this reward system, the app also monitors user behavior. She makes sure that they attend support meetings or appointments at adaptation centres.
