Jiang Ziya’s actor Lan Lanye dies farewell! How many works have you seen in one minute to understand your artistic career?
This afternoon (June 8), Lan Lanye, the recipient of the “July 1st Medal”, performing and directing artist at the Beijing People’s Art Theater, passed away in Beijing due to illness at the age of 95.
He used to be a top student in the art department, but he has reached the peak of performing arts. In his more than 70 years of acting career, he has played important roles in more than 70 dramas such as “Beijing People”, “Tea House” and “Cai Wenji”, as well as TV dramas such as “Fengshen Bang” and “Desire”, and won countless flowers and applause.
In order to miss the artist, CCTV also specially provided a one-minute video to learn about Lan Lanye’s artistic career. In the “Chinese Literature and Art” program, Lan Lanye recalled that when he was filming the “Fengshen Bang” play, he insisted on playing in person without a substitute. He said, “If there is any action in this play that I can’t complete, I will not take it.”
Lan Lanye, born in 1927 in a cultural family in Hebei, has been in the theater every day for as long as he can remember. In the 1940s, he devoted himself to the drama career and played important roles in the classic dramas “Peking Man”, “Tea House” and “Cai Wenji”. Especially in “Tea House”, Lan Lanye successfully shaped the image of the capitalist Qin Zhongyi, showing profound artistic accomplishment and artistic attainments.
