Tomorrow is the day: The hopeful strategy adventure Songs of Conquest, which has been in development for five years and which PCGH has reported on several times, will be released tomorrow in Early Access on Steam.
Hopefully, what takes a long time will be good. Fans of turn-based fantasy adventures should head over to Steam tomorrow, when Songs of Conquest, which has been in development for five years, will at least have a release in Early Access on Steam.
Songs of Conquest: Entering Early Access
As PCGH previously reported, the title developed by developer Lavapotion together with Coffee Stain Publishing (Valheim) will go live on May 10th. into Early Access on Steam. Songs of Conquest is “almost ready”, the core functions have been tested by alpha players since summer 2021. Nevertheless, the turn-based strategy game, which is not without ulterior motives memories of the Heroes of Might & Magic series triggers, stay in Early Access for about a year. Two campaigns are completed, four factions are fully playable. Online and local multiplayer are already working as intended. The level editor still needs improvement but is fully functional.

In Early Access, you want to work with the community to find out which features should be prioritized. After more than five years of work on the game, the developers need input from players to complete the title. For example, user interface elements, translations and general usability can be improved. We have many more ideas, but now we want to involve the community.
We only presented the gameplay of Song of Conquest a few weeks ago. The turn-based strategy game lets players build kingdoms in single player, online and local multiplayer. Songs of Conquest is said to have a unique combat system that uses hero units as wielders, “each with their own affinity for a particular set of spells that buff their troops, bring destruction to their enemies, or give players additional turns and combat options.” Each of the four factions prioritizes a different school of magic, and the Wielder’s source of mana, called Essence, comes directly from the numbers and size of their armies.
