Together with Microsoft, Samsung will bring from 30.06. the Xbox app on Smart TVs. Games from the Xbox Game Pass can be streamed directly to the television – without any Xbox Series X|S & Co. There is also the option of streaming free-to-play games without a subscription to the Xbox Game Pass, but this is required you need a current TV from the 2022 model year. Amazon currently has some current smart televisions from Samsung at reasonable prices. With some models you can save more than 30 percent compared to the manufacturer’s RRP.

Which Samsung TVs of the model year 2022 are there?

As usual, the South Koreans divide their portfolio into different categories and price ranges. The Crystal UHDs of the BU series form the entry point. These are the successors to the AU series of the year 2021. For example, the Samsung BU8079 with 55 inches offers support for HDR 10+ and relies on an LCD display with LED backlighting. Audio can be output to multiple end devices via Bluetooth, with the TV speakers also being able to continue playing sound. The internal TV speakers have an output power of 20 watts. Although Crystal UHDs have Auto Game Mode and support for HGiG, the refresh rate is limited to just 50 Hertz. There are also three HDMI and two USB ports as well as an optical, digital audio output, a LAN connection and built-in Wi-Fi 5. The Picture Quality Index created by Samsung is 2,200.

mid-range TVs

If you can invest more money, you get QLED TVs. Although Samsung continues to use LCD panels with LED backlighting, there is at least Quantum Dot technology. Let’s start with the GQ60 series. Even the inexpensive GQ70/74 series has a refresh rate of 120 Hertz and offers AMD Freesync Premium Pro. The Picture Quality Index rises to 3,400 because there are about more dimming zones than the Crystal UHDs. In terms of connections, there are HDMI 2.1 and four HDMI ports. Models of the GQ80 series have more dimming zones and there is support for Dolby Atmos.

high-end TVs

With Neo QLED, customers are entering the upper class of Samsung TVs, with the more expensive QN90/94 series also being available in addition to the QN85 series. In addition to the smart TVs in the entry-level (Crystal UHD), middle-class (QLED) and upper-class (Neo QLED and OLED) categories, Samsung also offers so-called lifestyle TVs. Here, QLED panels are used and special attention is paid to the design. For example, TVs from the The Frame series offer an interchangeable frame and a picture frame mode that is intended to turn these TVs into digital picture frames. The same is possible with the devices of the series The Serif and The Sero. If you don’t want to use UHD, but rather 8k-UHD, Samsung offers the Neo QLED700B from around 2,800 euros. The maximum offered is the Samsung Neo QLED900B.

Xbox Cloud Gaming: Microsoft brings app to smart TVs

Xbox Game Streaming – also known as Xbox Cloud Gaming or Project xCloud – has been officially available since September 15, 2020. To get access to it, you don’t need a subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, but can stream free-to-play titles like Fortnite for free. Only for paid games is there a shortage 13 euro subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate needed. A Keystone streaming stick was recently rejected. Microsoft is now announcing a collaboration with Samsung. From the end of June 2022, the Xbox app will be available in the app store for Samsung TVs with Tizen OS. Microsoft is thus making good on a promise that the group itself made in June 2021.

Xbox cloud gaming is available on these smart TVs

Without a streaming stick like the Amazon Fire TV Stick & Co., you can then use Microsoft’s cloud gaming on the TV. If you have a current Samsung TV and have connected it to the Internet, you can access Xbox Cloud Gaming as follows:

• The Xbox app will appear in the Samsung Gaming Hub. With a click on it, you have to sign in with your free Microsoft account.
• Without a subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, one can stream free-to-play games like Fortnite over the Internet line. The Internet connection requires a download speed of at least 10 Mbit/s to use Xbox Cloud Gaming. The 5 GHz frequency must be used for a WLAN connection.
• In order to be able to play, you now have to connect a controller to the TV via Bluetooth.
