Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0 come: Activision and Infinity Ward presented the two first-person shooters at a reveal event. In a current blog entry, the developers go into the first information about the new Battle Royale shooter, which is to be offered as a download after the release of Modern Warfare 2 on October 28th. There is no specific date yet, but in the blog entry the creators only confirm that the new Warzone will appear “later this year”. So in November or December you can probably go into the new Battle Royale brawls.
New features and new gameplay in Warzone 2.0
With Warzone 2.0 “come new technology, new features and new gameplay” that seamlessly with Modern Warfare 2 should work. The developers also want to take into account the player feedback they receive from the current Warzone. “To be able to deliver this experience, Warzone 2.0 receives new Modern Warfare 2 content, along with new progression systems and inventories,” the developers write on the Call of Duty website. The currently available Warzone should remain as a separate experience – with progress and inventories within this version.
Infinity Ward is responsible for the development of Warzone 2.0. Raven Software is also involved in the implementation. The new Free2Play Warzone relies on the same engine that is also used in Modern Warfare 2. More details are to be submitted soon, including a new sandbox mode and the new map. Warzone 2.0 will be released for PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC (Steam and Battle.net).
