The head of Twitter’s consumer products division told employees on Tuesday that the company was gearing up for its most ambitious quarter of user growth.

Internal meetings show,Twitter is aiming for this quarterAdded 13 million monetizable daily active users, that is, users who can see the ad. The head of Twitter’s consumer product division told employees it was the highest goal the team had ever set. That target beat Wall Street expectations. Analysts on average expect Twitter to add 9 million users this quarter.

Currently, Twitter is moving towards this goal,Has achieved 8.5 million user growth so far, which was one of the best quarters to date for user growth. In the second quarter of 2020, as people flocked to the platform for news at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, Twitter added 20 million users, the highest quarter-over-quarter growth since at least 2019.

It also shows that Twitter maintains its ambition to attract new users even as the deal to be acquired by billionaire Elon Musk faces uncertainty. Musk sent a letter to Twitter on Monday threatening to pull out of the $44 billion deal unless Twitter provided more data to prove that fake or spam accounts made up less than 5 percent of its users.
