Former Austrian vice chancellor Heinz-Christian Strache faced bribery and corruption proceedings in a Vienna court on Tuesday relating to the award of a state company board position to a businessperson in exchange for a donation to Strache’s party. Strache, 52, was handed a 15-month suspended sentence earlier this year in a separate corruption case. His appeal is pending.
