At the end of March, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 was pushed back to Spring 2023, which is why it actually looks like we won’t be making a trip to this year hyrule allowed to enjoy. But there are still two titles on the horizon that have been rumored to be coming to the Switch for quite a while.
This is of course the Gamecube title wind waker and the Wii game Twilight Princess, both of which landed on the Wii U already revamped. Both industry insider Nate Drake and editor Andy Robinson have hinted in the past that the two games are making the jump to the Switch (buy now €359.90) will create.
Wind Waker and Twilight Princess: Zelda double pack in October?
Also the podcaster and insider Jeff Grubb now spoke up. He thinks we should see Wind Waker and Twilight Princess as one species Zelda twin pack similar to how three platform classics were combined with the Super Mario 3D All-Stars Collection. In the current episode of his YouTube Podcasts Last of the Nintendogs Grubb spoke again about the two Zelda games:
“They want a Zelda thing every year, they’ve held this back, why not just release it this year? And if they don’t release that or another Zelda thing this year and wait for Breath of the Wild 2 instead, I just won’t understand.”
He didn’t want to be specific about a release date, but Grubb predicted that October as a release month is quite obvious: “I believe in the game even though it was a joke in the Mega64 video. I really believe it will be out in October. I think we’ll get that in October, then I think Metroid Prime One Remaster in November and Advance Wars 1 and 2 in December.”
Even if Grubb does not provide a source for his statement, at least his reasoning seems understandable. The displacement of Breath of the Wild 2 leaves a Zelda void that could be filled with Wind Waker and Twilight Princess. In fact, we’ve been able to travel to Hyrule every year for the past few years: 2021 with Skyward Sword HD, 2020 with Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, 2019 with the remake of Link’s Awakening and 2018 with Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition.
