Almost four years after the release of its fourth episode, the saga of JustCause talk about her again. While Square Enix has sold many of its Western studios with their licenses to Embrace Group, a briefing given to investors of Square-Enix reveals that the license JustCause remains under Japanese control.
A new Just Cause is in development
In this report, Square Enix explains very concisely the situation around JustCause:
Franchise JustCause will remain our IP, and we are hard at work developing a new title for it.
It remains to be seen whether the development would still be entrusted to Avalanche Studios, the developers of the previous opus. To this day, we know nothing about this future JustCause although we can hope for a more official announcement in the coming days during the various Summer Game Fest events. As a reminder, Avalanche Studios is at work on Smuggling, a new IP that will be developed exclusively for the Xbox ecosystem.
