In the race for engagement and views, influencers are able to go a long way. Even too far, as demonstrated by the latest Nasdas operation which resulted in the blocking of thousands of Amazon accounts.

The Nasdas community was over the moon when it learned that the influencer offered to empty a bank card containing 15,000 euros! Subscribers to his Snapchat account actually believed in the good deal, they could spend Nasdas money as they saw fit, the latter having simply asked not to exceed 250 euros for each purchase.

The nightmare for thousands of subscribers

But the beautiful story of Christmas quickly turned into a nightmare. Amazon blocked thousands of accounts from the snapchat community, for good reason: buyers wanting to take advantage of the bargain were unable to prove their identity, the bank card in question being the property of Nasdas . Without authentication, the purchase is rejected and the account suspended!

Suffice to say that it was the cold shower for many of those who follow the influencer and who, in return, won a hell of a lot bad buzz on social networks. Nasdas, which has 3 million subscribers on Snapchat, would probably have been better off offering Amazon gift vouchers that are infinitely easier to sell. Credit card transactions are indeed closely monitored by sellers but also by banks. And any suspicious movement is immediately detected.

So we can easily imagine that the thousands of purchases made in a few minutes with the same bank card immediately aroused Amazon’s suspicions. The video posted by Nasdas panicked the counters, with more than 100,000 views in one minute. Anyone whose Amazon account has been suspended, however, has the option of restoring it, by contacting the online merchant. Next time, they will probably be more wary of these fake bargains…
