Updated MacBook models based on the M2 chip still support only one external monitor.

At the last WWDC 2022 presentation, Apple introduced new MacBook Air models and a 13-inch MacBook Pro based on the new M2 chip. Many users have been waiting to connect multiple external displays to updated devices. However, this did not happen. According to the official specifications, both laptops only support one external monitor up to 6K resolution and 60Hz refresh rate.

Previous generation models with the older M1 chip could also connect a single display, but users have found that the limitation can be bypassed with a DisplayLink adapter. It is possible that such a solution is suitable for new products.

More expensive 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models support up to two external displays with the M1 Pro chip and up to four with the M1 Max chip.
