A couple of days ago, he announced that WhatsApp finally had the ability to respond to messages. Along with this feature, the company is also grouping up to 512 people and increasing the file size limit from 100MB to 2GB.

According to a WhatsApp blog post, “One of the most popular requests we keep getting is the ability to add more people to a chat, so we are now slowly rolling out the ability to add up to 512 people to a group. ”

As always, the company emphasizes the importance of creating a private, safe and secure experience. The interesting part about this feature being rolled out globally is that Brazilian users will have to wait a few more months. The company stated:

“Based solely on our long-term strategy for Brazil, this latest feature will only be rolled out after testing in other markets.”

In fact, since the presidential election will take place in October, this is part of an attempt by Brazil’s Higher Electoral Court to prevent the spread of fake news and disinformation through groups, as happens on other apps like Telegram.

In addition, WhatsApp users can now send files up to 2 GB at a time within the app, protected by end-to-end encryption. The company explains:

“This is an increase from the previous 100MB limit and we think it will be useful for collaboration between small businesses and school groups. We recommend using Wi-Fi for large files and we will display a counter while uploading or downloading so you know how long your transfer will take.”
