Before WWDC, the latest rumors claimed that the only new hardware would be the new Macbook Air. Mark Gurman at Bloomberg wrote that a Macbook Pro had been planned but would be delayed. However, that did not happen.
Apple took the opportunity to launch as well Macbook Pro 13 inch with M2 chip while redesigning Air.
The new model has almost no changes – even the Touch Bar remains, contrary to what rumors have claimed. The new processor will make it more efficient and it has 20 hours of battery life while being up to 15-40 percent faster than the M1 model.
The M2 chip provides, among other things, up to 24 gigabytes of internal memory and new media decoders. Compared to the Macbook Air, the Macbook Pro has better heat dissipation and can therefore work at full speed for longer periods, and has a couple of hours longer battery life.
An interesting detail is that the 13-inch Macbook Pro is now SEK 500 cheaper than the Macbook Air with the same configuration – SEK 20,000 with 10 graphics cores, 8 gigabytes of memory and 512 gigabytes of storage, compared to SEK 20,500 for Air. However, the Macbook Air is available in an entry-level model with 8 graphics cores for a few thousand bucks less.
