According to information to The mirrorvia Androicentralthe privacy-focused messaging service Telegram has on several occasions handed over data to the police in Germany.

The disclosure of the data must be linked to suspected cases of terrorism and child abuse and was carried out at the request of the German Ministry of the Interior.

According to Telegram’s own website, the messaging service “To date has handed over 0 exchanges of user data to third parties, including governments”.

However, Telegram has previously also said that they will hand over data if a situation arises that is first examined by several legal systems around the world.

Telegram has not commented on the latest information.
