In order to prevent a possible takeover, Ubisoft is currently examining the possibility of a partnership with a private equity company.
In the gaming industry, large acquisitions are currently more present than ever before. Well-known game developers such as Bethesda, Activision Blizzard, Bungie or the North American offshoot of Square Enix recently changed hands.
Rumors of a possible Ubisoft takeover also surfaced again and again. According to one, the French company is checking to prevent such a deal report currently the possibility of a partnership with a private equity firm.
Through such a partnership, the Guillemot family, which owns 15.9% of Ubisoft’s shares, hopes to raise enough funds to allow for a full takeover of the company, thus preventing future third-party takeovers.
At the beginning of the year, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot stated that Ubisoft could remain independent without any problems, but that a takeover would be possible if a suitable offer was made.
