Shortly before the release of AMD’s new refresh graphics cards, five custom designs from Sapphire, Asrock and MSI were leaked. Four models are old friends. The fifth custom design, on the other hand, was redesigned.

Shortly before the presumed launch date for AMD’s RX 6000 refresh, more and more details about the new custom models are appearing: The Videocardz website has published pictures of five different models from Asrock, MSI and Sapphire in the last few days. In addition to a new development, these are all products that largely correspond to the already available version based on the RX 6900 XT.

Five models with three power connections

The latter applies, for example, to the new Asrock Radeon RX 6950 XT OC Formula and MSIs RX 6950 XT Gaming X Trio. According to Videocardz, both custom designs are identical to the RX-6900-XT variant. In both cases there are still three 8-pin connectors, three fans and a triple (Asrock) or 2.5 slot cooler (MSI). Apart from the higher GPU and RAM clock rates and the higher power budget, no changes are planned.

Two graphics cards from Sapphire should also remain unchanged: the company is said to be planning one RX 6950 XT Toxic and one RX 6950 XT Nitro+. The former relies on a water cooler with a triple radiator, whereas the latter is to be delivered with an ordinary triple slot air cooler. As with MSI and Asrock, both graphics cards have three power connections. However, not three 8-pin connectors are required for operation, but rather two 8-pin and one 6-pin connector.

Exactly the same power connections are also required for Sapphire’s new custom design: The RX 6950 XT Nitro+ Pure. Like the regular Nitro+, this one features a triple-slot cooler with three fans, but rumor has it the cooler was redesigned outside of those specs. It is therefore not a pure refreshment.

Also exciting: Radeon RX 7000: First patch for VCN 4.0 released, RDNA3 without AV1 encoding?

In addition to the revised cooler, the color of the RX 6950 XT Nitro+ Pure has also changed: The new model is much lighter than the Nitro+. To what extent there will be tangible improvements apart from this is unfortunately not yet known. Hopefully that should become clear next week, because that’s when AMD is expected to launch the new refresh graphics cards.
