Stack Overflow has released The Key v2.0, the sequel to the keyboard that was introduced last year as an April Fool’s joke.
The Key obviously found its niche in the market as it sold over 10,000 units despite only having three keys – “Ctrl, C and V”.
The joke referred to a long-standing stereotype that programmers improve their skills simply by copying and pasting lines of code from online resources like Stack Overflow.
The new product, now available for $29, still only has three customizable keys.
However, unlike the original, The Key V2.0 is hot swappable, which means you can change keys without soldering them.
If users want to change the look of the keyboard even further, they can now play with color settings with RGB lighting.
A portion of all proceeds from the sale will go to digitalundivided, an American charity for Black and Latino women entrepreneurs.
Key V2.0 is available for purchase in the US now with a release date of July 20, 2022, with an initial launch of 3,900 units.
