At present, the world’s major car companies are accelerating the process of electrification, making electric vehicles a mainstream model, and the safety of electric vehicles and drivers has also attracted much attention.
Reuters reports that eight automakers have taken the advice of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB),The respective EV emergency guidance has been improved to incorporate vehicle-specific information on responding to lithium-ion EV battery fires.
Honda, Hyundai, Mitsubishi, Porsche, Volkswagen, Volvo, Proterra and Van Hool have reportedly successfully fulfilled the requirements of the NTSB’s January 2021 recommendation to 22 automakers.
The NTSB is said to require automakers to develop emergency guidelines in accordance with international safety standards, and include specific information on how to deal with electric vehicle battery fires and reduce the risk of thermal runaway and battery re-ignition.
In addition to the above eight automakers, 12 companies, including Ford, General Motors, Tesla and Toyota, are making progress following the steps identified in the recommendations.
