Apple TV+ is currently working on a TV reboot of the hit 1990s film Prince of the Tides. The romantic drama, starring Nick Nolte and Barbra Streisand, follows a man who falls in love with his sister’s psychiatrist as they work through issues from their troubled childhood.
Streisand not only acted, but also directed the film in 1991, which was nominated for seven Oscars (but did not win any). The film was written by Becky Johnson and Pat Conroy and is based on Pat Conroy’s 1986 novel of the same name.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the remake will be a television series written by The Help’s Tate Taylor and will feature a top-of-the-line cast. Tate Taylor has worked on such notable projects as Get Up, The Girl on the Train, and Breaking Yuba County.
Production will begin this summer as scripts and casting proposals are currently being finalized. The series, like the film, will also be based on the Prince of the Tides novel.
It is not yet known when the series will appear on the Apple TV + platform. This will most likely happen after a while, as production on the show hasn’t started yet. Apple has not officially commented as the series is still under development.
