The first equipment Wi-Fi 7 won’t take very long to arrive. After a platform Fast Connect 7800 for smartphones and tablets supporting the new standard, Qualcomm announces its network equipment product line Networking Pro Series Gen 3 which will also adopt the standard.

Improved speeds, optimized architecture… the era of WiFi at more than 10 Gbps is approaching on the basis of WiFi 6 and WiFi 6E which found itself stuck by the semiconductor crisis.

The evolution towards WiFi 7 should therefore be quite fast and Qualcomm offers four components in its range for speeds ranging from 10 Gbps to 33 Gbps and intended to integrate professional WiFi products (access points, WiFi mesh network, etc.) and high-end routers for individuals.

From the flexibility of a mesh network thanks to low latency to operation with high performance by limiting interference with neighboring networks, WiFi 7 is announced, in conjunction with 5G FWA (Fixed Wireless Access) or fiber optics, as a means of enhancing the possibilities for high-definition videoconferencing, virtual/augmented reality or for cloud gaming.

Operating in tri- or quad-band in 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 6 GHz, WiFi can support a bandwidth of 320MHzwhich is twice WiFi and uses a technique HBS Multi-Link (High Bandwith Simultaneous) to reduce the effect of interference from other networks and maintain high data rates.

Qualcomm announces that its Networking Pro Series Gen 3 solutions are already delivered in sample form to its partners.
