Developer Codemasters Birmingham and publisher EA have explained the new features of the upcoming video game F1 22 in a press release. It is now clear what is meant by more immersion and the new F1 Life mode.

On July 1st, the Formula 1 racing game will officially roll onto the starting grid. Meanwhile, EA Sports F1 22 can be downloaded for PC via Steam and in Epic Games Store as well as for the consoles Playstation 4 and PS5 as well as Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. It was recently announced that track updates should provide more realism. In the meantime, the developers at Codemasters Birmingham have explained how the racing game should create more immersion and what F1 Life is all about.

F1 22 is said to offer more immersion

A number of players of the previous Codemasters adaptations of the premier class of motorsport have wished for the racing events to be shown more realistically. In EA Sports F1 22, a number of improvements should contribute to this. There are now laps behind the safety car and anyone who wants to can intervene in the formation lap to warm up the tires and brakes and roll the racing car into the starting box. In addition, pit stops can be controlled by yourself, so that you have to manage entering and exiting the pits yourself and make sure to stop correctly at your pit crew. Even if you have done everything right as a driver, the mechanics can still make mistakes. In line with the new generation of F1 racing cars, the developers have revised the physics of the cars and place value on more realistic tire management. In the three training sessions that are held per race weekend, different training programs can be completed – if desired – in order to be able to achieve better lap times. Codemasters has redesigned the practice units – at least visually.

According to the British development studio, the adaptive AI should adapt to the player’s driving performance in order to enable exciting races. If you want, you can activate various driving aids and adjust the level of difficulty of the enemy AI in different levels. At the beginning of a race weekend, the race style can be determined, with three different levels of difficulty to choose from. Beginners can use the casual style to easily compete in an F1 race. In standard mode, emphasis is placed on more realism in driving behavior and players can make settings themselves. For the most realistic experience, you can choose Expert mode, in which all driving aids can be switched off, there are no flashbacks and the AI should be as difficult as possible. Of course, in Expert mode, for example, the defect devil can also be beaten and each player has to take care of race starts and pit stops himself. You should also keep an eye on the asphalt and outside temperatures as well as the condition of the tires.
