Since the release of the iPhone 12 has been slightly delayed, people are now constantly worried that manufacturing issues related to Covid-19 could affect any new smartphone from Apple, and the iPhone 14 is no exception. However, it seems that the Cupertino people are especially interested in ensuring that no delays occur.
A report published by United Daily News looks at Apple’s manufacturing facilities in China. Obviously, the middle of the year is usually a quiet time for factories, but Apple is looking to hire workers with extra bonuses during the off-season.
The text repeatedly describes how Apple is trying to start production of the iPhone 14 earlier than usual, mainly by speeding up the process of hiring workers at factories to offset any supply chain problems that may arise later.
It also seems that the production of the iPhone 13 line of smartphones is increasing due to the popularity of gadgets. The iPhone 13 Pro, in particular, is seeing a huge increase in new orders. So the workers at Apple’s iPhone factories are probably not chilling out and looking at their watches while they wait for their shift to end.
It’s likely that Apple is taking steps well in advance to offset any uncertainty closer to the iPhone 14’s market launch date – lockdowns in places like Shanghai are an example of developments that could affect production.
By starting now, Apple is ensuring it can stick to its usual pace, with an iPhone launch around September and a release a week or two after that.
It probably doesn’t hurt that, according to the leaks, this year will be an easy one for smartphone production, as the changes between models are quite minimal. Obviously, there will only be two sizes – the iPhone 14 and 14 Pro are said to have 6.1-inch screens, while the 14 Max and 14 Pro Max should have 6.7-inch screens – and if all the rumors are to be believed , lower-end devices will even get the same chip as the iPhone 13.
Given the limited changes and early start of production, we don’t expect the iPhone 14 to be delayed until the end of the year.
