According to new report Canalysin the first quarter of 2022, PC and tablet sales fell 3% globally, with Apple still leading the PC market thanks to the Mac and iPad.
Despite declining demand, Apple is still the leader in tablet shipments, selling 14.9 million iPads in the first quarter of this year (up 2% over the same period last year with 15.2 million). Second-placed Samsung also saw a 2% drop in shipments, with 7.8 million tablets sold compared to nearly 8 million devices in the first quarter of 2021.
The company also ranked first in the PC market, which includes desktops, laptops and tablets, with 22.3 million devices sold in the first quarter of 2022, up 1% year-over-year. Lenovo, which faced a 12% drop in demand, sold 21.1 million units in the same period.
The company is expected to release a refreshed MacBook Air, new iPad Pro, and base iPad later this year, which should raise interest among users around the world.
