Strange communication than that of Sonic Frontiers. Two days after allowing IGN to show the world 7 min of gameplay of his game, where it was empty and sad as possible, here comes a second video, this time centered on the fights. It is always our colleagues who have the scoop on exclusivity and obviously, they are the ones in charge of the game. After exploring a lifeless world where Sonic wandered like a soul in pain, now our hedgehog shows what kind of wood he is warming up. Faced with robotic enemies, Sonic engages in combat with his skills that we are beginning to know by heart. Jumping, curling up and colliding with opponents, even metal ones. By dint of repeating the action, Sonic makes them lose life points. But our hedgehog can also perform a more advanced attack, changing the angle of view for a more dynamic result than the average, even if it’s far from epic. Small novelties however, Sonic can create circles on the ground to touch at ground level and break guards and armor, a bit like in a fighting game. Better, in Sonic Frontiers, our hero can send sorts of Sonic Boom with his feet at the speed of sound. A kind of mixture between Chun-Li and Guile in the execution, lol.

A little further, our hedgehog faces more imposing creatures, a sort of colossi with feet of clay, whose heads are reminiscent of Tall Necks. According to a fairly classic pattern, Sonic can take accelerations thanks to blue portals, while the red ones are impassable barriers. It is up to the player to find the right path to get to the top of these mechanical beasts and touch them at their top and thus make them fall. Very sincerely, in the space of 6 min of gameplay, we have already covered Sonic’s attack possibilities (unless skills are still blocked and hidden) and the gameplay seems quite repetitive. Despite the presence of enemies in this video, nothing will detract from the fact that the open world remains empty, that the chosen music, too melancholy for action scenes, breaks the atmosphere, not to mention that visually, it’s not nor the panacea. We still wonder if SEGA made the right decision to reveal its Sonic Frontiers in this way, because without showing off, it’s already a cold shower.

The release of Sonic Frontiers is expected for the end of 2022 and we are very worried…
