Online shooter Escape from Tarkov is very popular among fans of the genre. The tactical, extremely realistic gameplay and the rather unique implementation of the battle royale formula gave the title a fairly large fan base. In addition to the numerous updates that the title has received over time, the game should actually have an arena mode. However, as Battlestate Games explained on Friday, this will now be a standalone game rather than a separate mode in Escape from Tarkov.
Escape from Tarkov Arena announced
Called Escape from Tarkov Arena should the new spin-off play just like the normal Escape from Tarkov. But instead of looting and then escaping the area, the new title focuses on “gladiator battles” in arenas within the city of Tarkov. So all in all, the new standalone simply focuses on Tarkov’s quite entertaining gunplay in a condensed format.
In addition to the classic deathmatch, the new game should include some other PvP and PvE modes. There will also be a progression system that players can use to unlock new weapons and equipment. Escape from Tarkov players will also have the option to enter the arena as their in-game character. In addition, all owners of the Edge of Darkness pack, which costs 110 euros, receive “free” access to the new game. Owners of the other editions will have to purchase the title as additional DLC, but a standalone version will also be available.
Escape from Tarkov itself has not yet been officially released. So all editions of the game are still shown as “pre-order”. It’s probably a bit strange that players can pre-order an edition to get access to a future DLC, but it will function as a standalone game. Battlestate Games has not yet announced how much Escape from Tarkov Arena will actually cost, and it will probably be a while before players can compete in the arena. A closed beta is scheduled to take place this fall.
