The New York Times reports that Apple has been forced to delay its first AR/VR headset until next year due to overheating issues related to the device’s processing power.

“Apple has hired Mike Rockwell, an engineer at Dolby Technologies, to lead the AR/VR headset. According to two people familiar with the project, its early attempts to create an augmented reality product were hampered by weak computing power. Sources say ongoing battery issues have forced Apple to delay the release until next year.

It is worth noting that back in January 2023, journalist Mark Gurman of Bloomberg reported on the delay in the release of Apple’s mixed reality headset until 2023 due to development problems related to performance and temperature.

Recently, engineers showed Apple executives a working prototype of a mixed reality headset, indicating that the device is almost ready for release.
