IT House reported on May 5 that Blizzard officially released its mobile game “Warcraft Arclight Rumble” under the World of Warcraft universe yesterday, and released the Chinese version of the game preview and demo video. The game’s official website also has been officially released.

This game is positioned as a strategy action game, including huge PVE, dungeon, raid, PVP and cooperative gameplay, and will include more than 65 well-known characters from the “Warcraft” universe. The launch date has not yet been announced.

Because the gameplay and style of this game look a bit like the previously popular “Clash of Clans: Clash Royale”, some players expressed their dissatisfaction.

In response to this, Blizzard designers claimed that “Warcraft Arc” and “Clash of Clans: Clash Royale” are very different. “Warcraft Arc War” has leaders, and there are five different factions to choose from. There are high and low terrain concepts in the game, and there are differences between long-range, melee and siege roles.

Blizzard art director Jeremy Collins and senior software engineer Andy Lim expressed some of their views in an interview with foreign media GamerBraves, and also said that fans can see everything they expect in the latest “Warcraft” series.

Blizzard designers also specially emphasized that “Warcraft Arc War” does not include krypton gold gameplay or NFT (non-fungible tokens) content for unboxing/drawing cards.

Warcraft mobile game

According to Jeremy and Andy, it’s a lighthearted pinball game similar to Hearthstone’s Azeroth warriors playing in a tavern.

“You throw these little things on the map, they come to life, they use their abilities to fight each other. This story will take you through the world of Azeroth, we start from Elwynn, to Westfall, Twilight Forest and many other familiar places.”

According to Collins, they decided to use numbers because it would make the characters stand out more on smaller phone screens.

“It’s a mobile game and it presents a lot of challenges, especially at the RTS camera angle where we can see the characters from top to bottom. That means you’re basically only seeing the first third of them, so We had to pay a lot of attention to the outlines of each model, and the color breakdown they had. The player needed to be able to see the character and say “oh grey and orange, that’s going to be the dark iron miner, or “that’s a big red unit, Oh, that must be a dragon.”

According to reports, this game will mainly focus on single-player PvE gameplay, and will provide 70 maps at launch, each with a different boss, and each map with a different mechanism.

“The fun of the game is figuring out how to build your army around a few core units on each map, and that changes on each map. Not every commander does the same thing after all. You have to adapt and control your army.”

How is it different from Clash Royale?

“There’s definitely some similarities, we’ve played a lot of Clash Royale, but I think it’s a lot different from War. We have the concept of a ruler in our game. It’s a unit that exists in all five families. There are Beasts, Black Rock, Horde, Alliance and Undead in the game. Each faction has different leaders in the game. You actually build an army around these leaders.

There are also highlands and lowlands in our game. We distinguish between ranged, melee, and siege characters. If you have a ranged character, you can shoot from high to low. There is a clear height advantage on high ground than on low ground. “

No loot boxes, draw cards or NFTs

Although this is a hero collecting game, it has been confirmed that it is not a card game and will not have loot boxes. Players can choose to purchase any unit with their own money or by storing in-game rewards.

“There is no such thing as a loot box mechanic in the game. If you want to buy a unit, you can find at the bottom of the store, we have ‘packs’ of different sizes, you buy a coin (bind) and you can buy exactly What you want, because it’s already in your store, you can buy it when you want. So at the end of the day, there’s no uncertainty about what you get.”

They also confirmed that there will be no NFTs in the game. That is to say, the non-fungible tokens that everyone often talks about are called Non-Fungible Tokens. They are placed here like tradable unique items. I believe that everyone does not want Blizzard to join this design.
