The most important news for bookworms

If you prefer to browse through texts instead of watching a video (there should be one here and there), you will also find the most important MMO topics from April 2022 in the following.

WoW: Dragon Flight

On April 19th, the WoW developers let the dragon out of the bag. As soon as the current Shadow Lands adventure is over, all Azeroth heroes in the new expansion Dragonflight to the Dragon Islands. In addition to the obligatory quests, dungeons and raid instances, the new caller class of the Dracthyr race, which is also new, awaits you there. The summoner may switch back and forth between a humanoid and a dragon form, and may wield the powers of the various dragon aspects.

The fact that you learn a special way of riding a dragon with Dragonflight also fits in with the dragon theme. Unlike normal flying, you have special abilities at your disposal, and you can train and customize the scaly mounts.
And then Blizzard wants to retire the current talent matrix early and bring back the old talent trees in a new form. The crafting system and the old-fashioned user interface should also receive a lot of love. Unfortunately, it is not yet clear when you will be able to try Dragonflight yourself. Blizzard didn’t even get carried away with a 2023 release period. There is also no date for the beta yet. Here it goes our large overview page for WoW: Dragonflight.

Wrath of the Lich King Classic

Blizzard not only announced Dragonflight in April, but also the new edition of the most successful expansion in WoW history with Wrath of the Lich King Classic, and that’s exactly what should be released this year. Ten new zones await you in Northrend, Dalaran as the flying capital, twelve dungeons and the entry-level raids Naxxramas, Eye of Eternity, Obsidian Sanctum and Archavon’s Chamber. There is also the death knight, the profession of inscription, the introduction of achievements, the PvP battlefield Beach of the Ancients and the increase in the level cap from 70 to 80.

Unlike back then, every WoW fan will be able to create a level 55 death knight in the pre-launch phase of Wrath of the Lich King Classic. Blizzard also plans to completely remove the automated party search from the original Wrath of the Lich King in order to preserve the spirit of the classic community. Also for WotLK Classic we have an overview page.

Sprint to the final of TBC Classic

So that Wrath of the Lich King Classic can actually be released this year, Blizzard is currently stepping on the gas in Burning Crusade Classic. PvP season 3 is supposed to end surprisingly in early May. For comparison: In the original TBC, Season 3 ran for 29 weeks. Now there are only 15. And the developers don’t take the time for proper tests of the last content phase either. The test server with the Isle of Quel’Danas and the Sunwell Plateau has only been online for a few days. PvP Season 4 and the TBC finals are scheduled to start sometime later in May.

While TBC Classic raid instances and arenas still counted more than 320,000 active characters in April (via Ironforge.pro), the realms of the Season of the Championship only come to around 7,500 Azeroth heroes active in the endgame. They’re currently struggling through one of the toughest grinds of the vanilla era, to open the gates of Ahn’Qiraj. In the Temple of Ahn’Qiraj, players can expect an optional hardmode that not only makes the bosses harder, but also lets tentacles come out of the ground everywhere.
