At its beginnings, Messenger was above all a 100% messaging application, then over time audio and video options were added. And that’s what this new update is all about, currently only available for Android.
A new tab appears, “Calls” (or Calls), and offers the possibility of consulting the history of past calls or of easily launching a new voice/video call. Next to the contacts, you will find a camera icon that you just have to click on to start the conversation.
The update of the application will be deployed very quickly and will allow people who have difficulty making a call, such as the elderly or the visually impaired, to do so without too much difficulty. The objective is also to highlight this functionality which is still little used.
Currently, 300 million audio and video calls are still made every day worldwide from Messenger, an increase of 40% since the start of 2020.
