A few days ago, we were talking about Aspyr not being against new ports of Star Wars games, especially the Rogue Squadron license, if fans were asking. This time, it’s Julian Eggbrecht, the co-founder of Factor 5 who sticks to it…

Indeed, the gentleman took over the tweet that we mentioned in our previous news to add a layer. Julian Eggbrecht hopes that Aspyr will bring Star Wars: Rogues Squadron to Nintendo Switch including the unreleased title, Star Wars: Rogue Leaders: Rogue Squadron which should have been released on Nintendo Wii a few years ago now.

In 2017, the license was talked about again, since Factor 5 was working to release this compilation before going bankrupt a year later. This compilation was to offer a new graphics engine to display 60 frames per second, but also new content. The compilation also had to offer a multiplayer mode with lightsaber fights using the features of the Wiimotte and Wii Motion Plus among others.

During various exchanges, Julian Eggbrecht had indicated the following:

“To complement this, it should include Rogue Squadron N64 / PC remastered with the highly detailed ship models of the Wii, as well as updated textures and shaders. The Force would be strong with that one. »

The first Rogue Squadron was released in 1998 on Nintendo 64 and PC, and was followed by two Nintendo GameCube games, Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader in 2001 and Rogue Squadron IIII: Rebel Strike in 2003.

It only remains to hope that this compilation will eventually see the light of day, it could delight many Star Wars fans and nostalgic people, including myself.
