Activision is not satisfied with Call of Duty: Vanguard. The company made the announcement in a recently released annual report, acknowledging that the disappointment was largely due to its own execution. “While Call of Duty continues to be one of the most successful entertainment brands in the world, our 2021 premium release has not lived up to our expectations and we believe this is primarily due to our execution.”
The annual report also mentions that the release did not bring as much innovation as one would have liked. According to the report, the “Second World War” setting did not find a positive response in parts of the community either. These issues are set to be addressed for this year’s Call of Duty release. This matches the current promises surrounding Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, this year’s CoD. The report also speaks of the most ambitious project in the history of the brand.
Vanguard’s “popularity”.
While Vanguard among others performed relatively well in our test, the public perception of the shooter for Activision is by no means satisfactory. The PC version of the game is currently included 72 out of 100 possible points in the average rating of the trade press.
The average user score is currently one 3.3 out of 10 possible points. It is difficult to assess to what extent such values can be used as an indicator of the popularity of a game in times of review bombing.
But also within our editorial team the view of Vanguard became more and more negative over the months and the disappointment correspondingly greater. So the challenge for Infinity Ward is to win back the trust of the fans after Vanguard.
Call of Duty: Die Hard
At the same time you can Call of Duty: Vanguard (buy now €62.00) do not die directly, which for example am Release of a new anti-cheat system is recognizable. So we remain curious to see how the brand performs under the auspices one of the most criticized companies in the industry further developed in the future.
