Lack of innovation and the scene is blamed.

Call of Duty: Vanguard was no thunder hit and performed well much worse than its predecessor Black Ops Cold War. In Activision Blizzards annual report they write a few lines about it all, and describe there some contributing factors to the game not meeting their expectations.

One of them is that World War II simply did not go down well with some of the audience. However, they put most of the blame on themselves and say they did not deliver enough innovation. However, both of these aspects must have been corrected with this year’s game, which will thus be a reboot of Modern Warfare 2.

In addition to underperforming sales, the game has also had its fair share of cheaters, despite the implementation of the somewhat controversial anti-cheating system Ricochet.
