Apple today confirmed that it will be inviting a small number of developers to WWDC 2022 at Apple Park for the first time since 2019. In-person events have been suspended due to the pandemic. In addition to meeting with Apple employees, guests will also have the opportunity to visit the new Developer Center at Apple Park.
The information was revealed on the WWDC 2022 web page, which highlights that developers invited to the event will be the first to experience the “all-new Developer Center.”
On June 6, we’re hosting a special WWDC22 opening event at Apple Park. Meet with the rest of the developer community to watch keynotes and country videos with Apple engineers and experts, explore the all-new Developer Center, and more. We can’t wait to talk in person.
While details about the Developer Center are unknown, Apple employee Phil Schiller teased the project last year during a lawsuit between Apple and Epic Games. Schiller said at the time that Apple was building a new Developer Center located in Apple Park without giving further details.
In 2010, Apple launched a “Compatibility Labs” program for developers to pay to spend a day on the company’s campus with access to hardware and engineering support to test their applications. It is likely that the Developer Center will become a similar space where developers can get help from Apple engineers and designers at any time, not just during WWDC.

It’s worth noting that while some people will attend WWDC 2022 in person, the event will still take place online with pre-recorded sessions, labs, and lounge areas. Registration for the Apple Park event begins May 9, and the WWDC 2022 opening presentation will take place on June 6.
