The Plymouth Superbird might have been the one to entice Richard Petty to come back to Chrysler for racing in NASCAR, but it was the Dodge Charger Daytona that reached the famed 200-mile-per-hour mark first. However, before Chrysler could get the vehicle on a race track, it had to homologate a bunch for the road, leading to the creation of the 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona.
