Since the release of Dying Light 2 Stay Human last February, Techland has not missed an opportunity to speak publicly about the successful launch of their latest AAA and the upcoming plans for it. Last May, we learned that the first major DLC of the game was postponed to September and that Techland was already preparing a new action-RPG in the open world. Today, it is the words of the main designer of Dying Light 2 that hold our attention about the DLC planned for the game.

Don’t expect any particularly exuberant DLC for a while

Techland has promised an assiduous follow-up of Dying Light 2 during the next 5 years and it must be said that the first signals sent by the Polish studio are very good. The roadmap of the zombie game unveiled last May shows many regular additions of all kinds until the arrival of the first main DLC for next September.

The game’s lead designer at Techland, Tymon Smektała, recently spoke to our colleagues at VG247 in an interview and answered a specific question about what people might expect from Dying Light’s DLCs. 2.

The first opus had offered a particularly advanced experience with the DLC The Following offering a new map and the arrival of a buggy increasing the possibilities in the already provided gameplay of Dying Light. However, Smektała was more tempered than usual by telling fans that they shouldn’t expect “DLC set in outer space”.

By magnifying the line, Tymon Smektała simply wants to make it clear that Techland will not offer particularly wacky content before the 3rd or 4th year of the game, out of the 5 years of follow-up promised by the studio. The designer nevertheless returns to the first two planned DLCs which are in development and he reminds us that these would take place in the current universe of the game in new places.

While waiting for new, more concrete information on these DLCs, Techland continues to supply Dying Light 2 with new features and players are generally happy with the result and the quick fixes made to the various issues affecting the game. Dying Light 2: Stay Human is still available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. A Switch version is slated for release later in the year.
