The brave new world: this is what Razer offers with the screen of its new gaming laptop, the Blade 15. On the battery side, it’s an OLED panel, with color quality (100% of the P3 spectrum) and the (infinite!) contrast ratios that we know from this technology. On the front side, it is also and for the first time a very high refresh rate of no less than 240 Hz – when most computer OLED panels run at 60 Hz. 15 inches is 2560 x 1440 pixels, thus avoiding the trap of the 4K panel, which is even more energy and greedy in 3D resources.
But if you swear by 4K, no worries: Razer is sticking with LCD options. Not all users will want this technology anyway, which has one flaw: it doesn’t like still images, which can permanently mark the screen. Fans of Word, image editing and other tasks where the display (or part of the interface) is rather static should always favor LCD technologies.

At the controls of this screen, an RTX3070 Ti, which should maintain the frame rate above 120 fps in most games, even the most demanding ones. For the most intransigent (and the richest) an RTX3080 Ti option is also available.
The chassis is that of previous generations, a large block of machined aluminum, but the piloting increases to 12and generation of Intel Core processors. Not a small processor, a mean Core i9-12900H integrating 14 cores – 6 high performance cores (P-Core) and 8 low power (E-Core) – supported by 32 GB of DDR5.
The interest of this 45W chip (which can push up to 115W!) is its Turbo operating frequency, which can hold 5 GHz, ideal for video games which are often more sensitive to frequencies than to the number of hearts.
Far from playing on finesse at all costs, the Blade 15 maintains its footprint as a large Macbook Pro and can thus be generous not only in terms of internal evolution (removable RAM, second M.2 slot to add a second SSD later) but also on the external connector. In addition to the Thunderbolt 4 in USB-C format, we benefit from 3 USB-A sockets, a USB-C, an HDMI, an SD UHS-II slot… but no RJ45 socket. It will therefore be necessary to go through an adapter to go wired.
Two unknowns drive those who are already salivating: the quality of heat dissipation and the price. For the first, we know that a next-gen vapor chamber promises to get the job done – testing will verify that. For the price, Razer France announces that “this new Blade 15 OLED will be offered at a competitive price, relatively similar to other configurations in this range. “After having inquired, we would be around, even a little above 4000 €.

To make an impression, Razer wanted to be the first to announce a machine with a 240Hz OLED screen. Razer has the scoop on the announcement, but will it really be first to market? We will have to see, because the Blade 15 OLED 240 Hz will not arrive until the fourth quarter of 2022. By then, the competition could move very quickly!
