Sequel to the eponymous opus expected on June 24, 2022 on Nintendo Switch, pS4 and Xbox One / Series, AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES – nirvanA Initiative has just revealed new information on its content. On the menu of the day: presentation of characters, new gameplay elements, all accompanied by new visuals that we let you discover below.

Plot

A story where the present and the past intersect. A story told from two points of view.
The story opens with the discovery of the left half of the body of a victim of the Half Body serial murders, which occurred six years ago. Stranger still, the body shows no signs of decomposition. Mizuki enlists the help of Ryuki, the agent once assigned to the serial murders.

Mizuki’s Story: The Present
This story is told from the perspective of Mizuki, a newly appointed ABIS agent. Guided by a mysterious message, it is she who discovers the left half of the body. In order to solve the case, she searches for Ryuki.

Ryuki’s Story: The Past
Here we see the story of the serial murders of Half Body from Ryuki’s point of view. The investigation begins when only the right half of a body suddenly appears in a studio during a game show. Mizuki also appears here as a 12-year-old girl.

New survey items
The game consists of two parts: Investigation and Somnium. During the investigation, the story unfolds as players navigate the real world, examine crime scenes, and conduct interviews with suspects and witnesses. The goal here is to gather information and gather evidence.

The main protagonists, Mizuki and Ryuki, both have prosthetic left eyes. This prosthesis or “AI-Ball” is equipped with advanced artificial intelligence, as well as visual functions such as X-rays, thermal imaging and night vision that can help them discover clues. Mizuki and Ryuki used the AI-Ball to secretly see what is behind a wall or inside a closed box, and even changes in body temperature, which is impossible with the naked eye. Going forward, new AI-Ball features include “Wink Psync”, “Virtual Reality”, and “Truth Reenactment”.

Wink Psync
When the conversation yields little results, Wink Psync makes it easy for agents to read the thoughts of others. Wink Psync displays strong memories like dreams to expose other parties’ lies and concerns.

Virtual reality
With virtual reality, agents use a recreated virtual space to collect clues. The virtual space includes information digitized from X-rays and thermal images. By switching modes, special views can be applied to an entire space for investigation. Using virtual reality also involves solving puzzles or codes placed on a stage.

Reconstruction of the truth
When enough clues are collected in virtual reality, the game moves on to reconstructing the truth. While examining the unfolding of an incident, clues are applied to issues that have emerged, in order to clarify the truth. If the truth can be revealed without contradiction, officers will be able to witness a visual reconstruction of the incident.

An Internet idol affiliated with the Lemniscate agency. Her idol name is A-set, but her fans call her Tesa. She loves the occult and urban legends. Iris is a senior at Sekiba High School, and a member of the dance club.

Iris and Mizuki were present at the studio when the right half of a body suddenly appeared during a game show broadcast.

A former “Quiz King” turned comedian. His stage name is Andes Komeji. He made a few television appearances but was not very successful.

He was the game show host when the right half of a body suddenly appeared in the studio during the internet broadcast. The appearance of Half Body marked the start of the Half Body serial murders case.

The daughter of the very wealthy Chieda family. In senior high school Sekiba, she is a member of the same dance club as Iris: she has even won a competition. Kizuna is a good friend of Iris. Thanks to Iris, she is also friends with Mizuki.
