With the release of the new ultimate raid “Dragon War Fatal” for Final Fantasy 14, the fight for world first kills has also flared up. It took almost a week until the raid group “Neverland” was able to claim this success and master all phases of the new raid challenge.
The ultimate battles in Final Fantasy 14 are very special challenges, as they push even well-established groups to their limits and demand a lot of practice and perseverance. The developers put a lot of effort into these raids to create varied and versatile mechanics where a single mistake can be deadly, and quickly the whole group is forced to start the entire fight again.
As with Patch 6.11 on February 26th, the new Ultimate Battle “Dragon War Fatal” came into play, countless players threw themselves into the race for the world-first-kill. It’s only today Raid group Neverland managed to completely master all six phases (plus intermediate phase) of this fight and thus claim this remarkable success for themselves.

That’s what makes this fight so special
With the Dragon War Fatal, the developers have combined various boss battles from the Heavensward expansion into a single challenge. The players have to compete in different phases against King Thordan and his knights of the round, but also against the dragon Nidhogg. Some story elements from Heavensward were also incorporated. For example, it is possible to save Haurchefant from death, which will change the course of the battle.
The entire fight requires the players to know and implement the various elements and mechanics of the game, where a single mistake can often be deadly. There are also various brutal DPS checks and the fact that there is only one checkpoint that gives you a little breather. So every time almost the entire fight has to be repeated to practice a mechanic, which once again underlines the special achievement that Neverland has achieved here. Quite a few players even speak of the toughest raid challenge seen in Eorzea so far. We congratulate!
