Yesterday, BMW presented its new little SUV iX and already today we got the chance to check out the fully electric version of this, called the iX1. The price tag for this little SUV in the electric version is SEK 610,000, and it’s certainly a lot of money. One may ask why one should buy this instead of a Volkswagen ID.4 for example which can be obtained from SEK 550,000, but then with a much lower effect. If you look instead at ID4 GTX which has 299 horses which is more comparable to iX1 which has 313 horses, the money is exactly the same, or it differs SEK 100.

The reason for choosing the BMW could be driving pleasure. After all, the iX1 is a BMW and that it is smaller can be an advantage. 0 to 100 runs in 5.7 seconds instead of the 6.3 seconds that ID.4 GTX takes on. A closer car to compare with is perhaps the XC40, which with four-wheel drive per se is faster and stronger, but also more expensive.

The choice of model is of course yours, I can only state that it is nice with more options on the market and that this one will probably find its place. The size fits many and with enough power and four-wheel drive, this one will sell. Above all, it is really much cheaper than the iX3, which costs SEK 780,000.

The car in the pictures and video is thus iX1 and it is the electric version. There will also be versions with petrol and diesel or plug-in hybrid if you prefer. BMW themselves say that this is a completely new car on a new platform, so we will have to come back with if it keeps its promise.

Production will start in November and the first cars for the customer will roll into the country before the turn of the year.
