Diablo Immortal Game Director Wyatt Cheng recently answered questions about the upcoming PC-ported mobile spin-off on the Diablo Immortal subreddit’s Discord channel. Among other things, it was about classes, legendaries, the PC port, an API for the community and much more.
In about a month, Diablo fans will be able to make do with the mobile-first Diablo Immortal. As was announced some time ago, the title will also be released for the PC and will start in the beta phase for the time being. More than 30 million players have already pre-registered for Diablo Immortal and it’s still a few weeks until release
Until then, Blizzard has addressed some questions from the Diablo community in the form of game director Wyatt Cheng. On the Discord channel of the Diablo Immortal subreddit, fans asked him about a wide variety of topics for the upcoming mobile offshoot. Questions to be discussed included content, the PC port, the API for the community, and Legendaries.
Focus on mobile version, five characters per server
According to Wyatt Cheng, Diablo Immortal will have multiplayer and single-player components, with the latter being more limited as the game is designed to be fundamentally a social experience. At the start of the open beta for PC, Wyatt Cheng expects some bugs that will arise when using a mouse and keyboard and then have to be fixed. Tooltips will be no larger on PC than mobile, so full text should only be scrollable to read. A scaling of the user interface is therefore not planned for Diablo Immortal
The primary focus of Diablo Immortal should be on the mobile part. The PC porting only serves as an alternative for emulations. Blizzard also doesn’t want to transfer too many developer resources from mobile to PC, so the experience for the former will be as good as it can be. APIs or other forms of community access to the game’s files won’t be an issue until after Diablo Immortal’s release, Wyatt Cheng said.

Also up for debate is the division of Diablo Immortal’s servers by region, such as NA West, NA East, and Europe. In addition, you should be able to create a maximum of five characters per server. There will be a cooldown for the class change, so that a change is not made every day, but rather only every week or month. When changing classes, levels, items, etc. should be transferred, apart from the legendary properties, since these are class-bound.
