Popular messaging app Telegram is working on a Premium subscription that adds new exclusive reactions and stickers, but is only available for iOS for now.

The latest beta version of Telegram for iOS (8.7.2) featured on the unofficial Telegram beta channel has shown the first evidence of “Telegram Premium”, which appears to be primarily focused on advanced reactions and stickers that aren’t in the app. free format.

As expected, the reaction of Telegram users to the subscription was mostly negative.

While there is currently no word on how much Telegram Premium will cost, there are a few hints as to how the subscription will work. In a quick demo, as shown in the image below, the reactions are similar to the larger emoji Telegram has introduced in recent months, but with options that Telegram has not made available to free users. When clicking on a sticker sent by someone using a subscription, the non-subscriber cannot see the reaction/sticker, but instead just sees an offer to purchase the subscription model.

Our Dylan Roussel was also able to access Telegram Premium reactions on iPad as shown in the image below.

However, there’s a lot we don’t know about this feature. The monthly cost is unclear, and it is not known what other features will be available other than new stickers and reactions.

If one Redditor is to be believed, we’ll also see a dedicated avatar creator, at least in the macOS version of Telegram, as the Android Police folks have highlighted. However, it’s not clear if this feature will be part of a Premium subscription.
