Unlike other titles from Supermassive Games, The Quarry will feature a different gameplay mechanic, which might appeal to gamers a lot. Indeed, the director of The Quarry, Will Byles, recently explained to SegmentNext thatit will be possible to cancel a certain number of deathsafter having completed the adventure for the first time, thanks to the “Death Rewind”:
[…] Death Rewind [rembobinage de la mort, en français] is a reroll mechanic that unlocks after going through the story or if you buy the Deluxe Edition of the game. You basically have three “lives” that allow you to avoid a character’s death at the cost of using of one of the lives. You will be taken back to the moment before the choice that led to the death of the character […]
Which can be relatively interesting, controller in hand, and which can be very refreshing for the genre. Especially since The Quarry should offer great replayability since the software will offer more than 180 unique endings in total, according to the latest information.
