The connection between The Callisto Protocol and the PUBG universe was recently broken, but now the game is also making headlines elsewhere: The release date for the horror game has finally been set.
As part of the State of Play last night, Striking Distance Studios and the PUBG makers from Krafton announced more information about The Callisto Protocol, above all the release date. The new sci-fi survival horror game from the creator of Dead Space is said to be available worldwide from December 2nd, 2022.
For the development of the game, Glen Schofield assembled a team of gaming industry veterans to take the survival horror genre to the next level with brutal combat and a human storyline. The release is planned for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
What’s the matter? Set in the year 2320 on Jupiter’s dead moon Callisto, The Callisto Protocol forces you to escape the maximum security Black Iron Prison and uncover the terrible secrets of the United Jupiter Company. You must scan your surroundings and adapt your tactics, using a mix of ranged and melee combat, to survive a mysterious outbreak that has thrown Callisto into chaos.
The protagonists are Josh Duhamel as Jacob Lee, a cargo ship pilot who is trapped deep in the Black Iron Prison, and Karen Fukuhara, known from the Amazon series “The Boys”, who plays a mysterious fellow prisoner. More details about the cast and the story of the game will be revealed later in the year.
The game is still available for pre-order now in Day One Edition, Standard Edition and Digital Deluxe Edition. A Collector’s Edition is available exclusively from GameStop in the US and Canada; this also includes a limited steel book case, a comic book and a high-quality collector’s figure. The following, also newly released trailer shows fresh gameplay.
