The brand of gaming devices Evercade has struck again. Here is his latest find, a handheld console for retro games with a familiar look.

Retrogaming fans have not been left out for a few years. While the movement is gaining more and more momentum, we are pleased to see the flowering of pixel art games, the return of iconic franchises, but also the creation of adapted media that smell good of our childhood. Today, Blaze Entertainment introduces its brand new retro terminal, the Evercade EXP handheld console.

Make no mistake, this is not a Nintendo Switch, or even a Steam Deck. However, its rectangular shape and its controls surrounding the screen would have made us think of a product coming out of the Nintendo factories. Its very sober look would have almost made us forget that it is actually part of the Evercade range of Blaze, which was initiated in 2020 with a miniature portable console, and in 2021 with Evercade VS a home console for two players.

Evercade EXP is back in a mostly solo experience with a format that players particularly appreciate and which this time should be all the rage. Prettier and with better grip than its predecessor, the console also boasts better performance for a fan-service gaming experience. Screen question, the machine has a slab High resolution IPS 4.3 inches, with a resolution of 800 x 480. The icing on the cake, on the screen is a tempered glass protection to prevent scratches and breakage.

Games, more games

The most observant will have noticed two small buttons on the left of the screen. These are actually controls that you can use… when you turn the console vertically! In this way, you can play in portrait mode certain titles that are most suitable for this mode. Speaking of games, you will be able to enjoy all the collections previously released on Evercade, so more than 300 games in total in physical cartridge form of course.

The Evercade EXP will also be delivered with a new cartridge from the arcade collection which brings with it 6 new games which are: R-Type, In The Hunt, Moon Patrol 10 Yard Fight, Battle Chopper (Mr Heli) and Lightning Swords.

On the purely technical side, know that it has integrated WiFi, a USB-C port for charging and a mini HDMI port. inside, there is a 1.5Ghz processor and 4GB of storage memory. The Evercade EXP console has a release date set for winter 2022, likely around the holiday season. This will make a nice gift to put under the tree. Especially since with an introductory price of €149.99, we are clearly below the Nintendo Switch or the Steam Deck. For less power for sure, but so much more fun for fans of retro games.
